Anonymous asked: hey, so I'm thinking of investing in a good quality makeup kit, I already get asked to do makeup on friends, their friends, and family and love doing it, I'm currently in school to get certified as well. I want to start actually charging like $10-15 per face so I can earn some money on the side & also to maintain my kit. If I have business cards for contact info for "clients", would that be legal even though I'm not fully certified yet?
good for you, congrats!
Well im not certified, completely self taught ;)
in the state of CA you are not required to have a liscence to do freelance makeup.
So if you live in another state you should see what their laws are like.
Anonymous asked: Ok so Prom at my sisters high school is coming up and i have gotten a lot of requests for that day and this would my fist time doing a lot of people in one day. So my question is how do you set appointments? How much time do you set in between each? and do you clean brushes and prepare at that time?
very good question! hope this helps others as well as yourself!
well youre gonna have to go back and forth on times with people so some of them are gonna have to comprimise with time
time yourself doing someones makeup take your time and dont rush then remember you could mess up so add a little more time for each appointment for me i take 45mins for full face so i just book the times hourly giving more or less 15mins between
in between that time you want to reorganize your makeup. idk if your like me but after every appoitment i have makeup everywhere lol so you want to reorganize everything and as for brushes you want to spot clean them between appointments all you need is 90% rubbing alcohol and a paper napkin and swirl it in removing all the product. the alcohol will clean and snatize the brushes as well as evaporate and be completley dry in about a min!
Anonymous asked: How did you be come such a great MUA at a young age? i ask this be cause i am aspiring to be a MUA myself but i'm afraid i wont excel at the craft. I'm good but not GREAT.
I started at a very young age 13/14
then began practicing on others at 15/16
I have been watching youtube tutorials for 4-5 years now and have learned so much.
youtube wont turn you into an amazing MUA you have to watch and learn and practice and practice!!! PRACTICE is the key to perfection. If you love it then nothing should stop you. Just keep on practicing love wish you lots of luck! xoxo
